Feverfew

In yesterday’s program, Cathy Isom reviewed plants for decorating as well as healing. Today, Cathy tells you about more medicinal plants to grow in the home you may not have heard of. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.

Feverfew – consisting of little button flowers that resemble daisies. There’s evidence that supplementing with feverfew can reduce migraine attack frequency.

Aconite

Aconite – Also known as Wolfsbane, this plant is topped with pretty purple flowers. Aconite has sedative properties, as well as the ability to treat headaches. It is a powerful medicinal plant and should be used with extreme care.

Wooly’s Lamb Ear

Wooly’s Lamb Ear — Often treated as a weed, this fuzzy plant isn’t necessarily a nuisance if you want something that is a handy wound dressing.

Solomon’s Seal

Solomon’s Seal.  A tough-to-grow perennial that is native to woodland habitats. This plant is useful for healing skin abrasions and relieving pain associated with wounds. Just a word of caution:  many parts of this plant are poisonous, including the berries.
