The votes are in and the bracket has been closed. The Alabama’s Best Steak contest enters its final leg as the field of 113 restaurants has been narrowed down through consumer internet voting to the “Fiery 4” restaurants. The “Fiery 4” restaurants are Brandin Iron Steakhouse, Cullman (North Region); Bull Pen Steakhouse, Oakman (Central Region); Diamond Jim’s and Mrs. Donna’s, Livingston (South Region); and FIRE Steakhouse, Atmore (Gulf Coast Region).

The contest began on June 20th and consumers across Alabama could nominate their favorite steak restaurant. This resulted in 1678 votes and 113 nominated restaurants. The bracket challenge portion of the contest began on August 16th, which had the “Sizzling 16” restaurants based on these votes. Last Friday, the “Sizzling 16” was narrowed down to the “Enticing 8”, based on 1643 votes in the bracket challenge. Finally, this week resulted in 1186 votes in the online bracket challenge and determined the “Fiery 4” restaurants. Consumers cast votes by visiting the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Facebook page or by texting “BEEF” to 20566.

A team of anonymous judges will travel the state to visit each of the “Fiery 4” restaurants to determine which restaurant serves Alabama’s Best Steak. Once the winner has been named, a press conference on-site at the restaurant will be organized and publicized in October to be recognized by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.

The “Alabama’s Best Steak” contest was funded entirely by the hardworking cattlemen of Alabama through the Beef Checkoff program, designed to increase beef demand in Alabama.
