Several growers last week urged the Citrus Research and Development Foundation’s (CRDF) Research Management Committee to devote significant HLB research dollars to short-term solutions, including foliar nutrients that have apparently kept trees productive for years. Among those growers was CRDF board member Joe Davis Jr. In this interview, Davis tells why he’s skeptical that an HLB cure will be found, says the CRDF mission is to help growers survive and be profitable, and explains the process by which research is chosen.
