Long-Time Southeast RCM, Monty Bain, Announces Retirement
(MEMPHIS, TN/October 12, 2023) —The Cotton Board has hired Daniel Radford as its new Southeast Regional Communication Manager (RCM). Raford’s territory includes: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Radford will inherit the territory of The Cotton Board’s long-time Southeast RCM, Monty Bain, who announced his intention to retire in March of 2024. Bain will work alongside Radford until his retirement.
The Cotton Board’s RCMs work to ensure that stakeholders of the Cotton Research and Promotion Program in their respective territories are informed of the activities stemming from the Program as conducted by Cotton Incorporated and administered by the Cotton Board. The RCMs visit producers in the field, speak at industry meetings, participate in trade shows, and coordinate producer tours of Cotton Incorporated.
Radford, a native of North Carolina, previously served as the Director of Alumni and Engagement for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University. Radford has also worked closely with the North Carolina Cotton Producers Association since 2022. He has a Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Extension Education from North Carolina State University.
“I’m looking forward to traveling across my territory and meeting as many cotton producers as possible. Monty Bain has been a respected, tireless industry leader for many years. I look forward to following in his footsteps and continuing to serve and educate producers about the many benefits of the Cotton Research and Promotion Program,” said Radford. The Cotton Board’s other RCMs include Grant Saum, Midsouth RCM covering Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee; Shelley Heinrich, Southern Plains RCM covering north Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma; and Christi Short, Southwest RCM covering east, central, far west, and south Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
