Doug Holmberg of Holmberg Farms is a citrus grower and nurseryman that has a very positive outlook on HLB. “If you address every negative impact affecting the tree, HLB isn’t that big of an issue,” he said. Holmberg gave us a tour of a luscious 35-acre block of Sunburst tangerines that is infected with HLB, but is still producing healthy fruit. He has been producing high-quality resets for Florida citrus growers for more than half a century and has amassed one of, if not the most, extensive collections of citrus rootstocks and budwood trees in the industry at his remote nursery location in Lithia, Florida.
