Georgia peanuts scored a win Sunday during the NASCAR race in Atlanta.

The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) sponsored NASCAR driver Anthony Alfredo during this weekend’s Georgia race. The Georgia Peanuts logo covered Alfredo’s car from front to back. It was another fitting way for the GPC to celebrate National Peanut Month.

“Another new event that we’re doing this year for the National Peanut Month is by sponsoring a race car driven by Anthony Alfredo. He is known as “Fast Pasta” but during the Atlanta Motor Speedway NASCAR race, he became known as “Fast Peanut” when he was able to drive the Georgia Peanuts race car,” said Joy Crosby, director of communications at the Georgia Peanut Commission. “We’re proud of that partnership that we developed with him and being able to sponsor his car during the race.”

The GPC also partnered with Alfredo to give back to the local community.

“As part of our promotion with Anthony Alfredo, we’re also teaming up to donate over 1,000 jars of peanut butter to Canine Assistance. That’s a non-profit organization that helps with training service dogs and will help people who have difficulty with mobility or seizure disorders or Type 1 Diabetes,” Crosby said. “We’re really glad to be able to donate peanut butter to Canine Assistance and the work that they’re doing with their service dogs is helping in pediatric hospitals and similar facilities.”

Canine Assistants received 1,440 sixteen-ounce jars of creamy peanut butter, courtesy of the Georgia Peanut Commission. Alfredo was on-site to help make the delivery for Georgia Peanuts and the Be Your Own Hero Foundation.
