citrus cankerKissimmee-based citrus consultant Elizabeth Steger released her annual prediction of the upcoming Florida orange crop last week, and she projects a 26 percent decline in the new orange crop for the 2016-17 season.

In a story by Kevin Bouffard with The Ledger, Steger has predicted that Florida orange growers will only produce 60.5 million boxes of oranges during the new season which starts in October. If so, that will be down from the 81.5 million boxes in 2015-16. And will be the lowest Florida orange crop in 53 years. To read more of that story click here.
