71st Annual UF Beef Cattle Short Course is This Week

The 71st annual University of Florida/IFAS Beef Cattle Short Course will return to the traditional in-person full event this year. It will be held May 4-6 at the Straughn Professional Development Center in Gainesville. The event kicks off at 1:00pm on Wednesday and will adjourn Friday at noon.

This year’s Short Course will have a double focus: female reproduction and traceability. The program includes lectures from influential external speakers, outstanding University of Florida faculty members, short presentations of research updates, hands-on activities and social gatherings with delicious food.

According to the schedule of events, some of the topics being discussed this year includes Reproductive Management, Bull Management, along with Selection & Breeding Strategies in the Cow-Calf Herd. There will also be an update on the Florida Traceability Project and a 3-year Summary of the Fed Beef Challenge, what has been learned about Florida cattle & tenderness.

Registration costs for Online General Admission is $150, but online registration ends today, May 2. Registration costs at the door for general admission is $200.
