The U.S. House Appropriations Committee approved a fiscal 2022 funding bill Wednesday for the Agriculture Department, Food and Drug Administration and Commodity Futures Trading Commission that would boost spending by more than ten percent. The bill includes funding for ag research and climate related programs, along with funding for cotton industry priorities requested by the National Cotton Council. NCC Vice President of Washington Operations, Reece Langley explains what those are.

Langley says the Senate recently passed the Growing Climate Solutions Act (S. 1251). It is legislation that simultaneously will help farmers understand and access carbon markets, help the environment and boost farm income.

Both the House and Senate have been focusing on spending bills that need to be approved by the start of the new fiscal year.
