“The Georgia Peanut Commission is hosting a kickoff to planting celebration. It’s called Peanut Palooza and it’s on Saturday, April 17 at our Georgia Peanut Commission office,” said Hannah Jones, GPC Project Coordinator-Research and Education. “Members of the public are invited to attend for free. There’s no charge. It’s a family-friendly event.”

The event, which will include boiled peanuts, fried peanuts, a cupcake truck and peanut butter milkshake samples, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the GPC office. It is located at 445 Fulwood Blvd., Tifton, Georgia 31794.

Jones said the new Georgia Ag Experience will also be in attendance. The mobile classroom, which is designed for students in 3rd grade through 5th grade, showcases Georgia’s diverse agriculture. Its interactive technology immerses students into the state’s No. 1 industry.

“This (event) really is a way to get out and promote peanuts and remind everybody how great peanuts are and how good they are for you,” Jones said.

In addition to the outside activities, the GPC office will be open for attendees to visit the gift shop and take a tour of the building. For more information about the event and programs of the Georgia Peanut Commission, visit www.gapeanuts.com.
