The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) announces its plan to hold January’s annual meeting virtually amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Taylor Sills, executive director of the GCC, said the meeting will be held online on Jan. 27 beginning at 9 a.m.
“We regret this decision, but they told us from the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center that it wasn’t going to be possible. We respect them and appreciate our special relationship with the university,” Sills said. “Honestly, we’re going to try to make lemonade out of these lemons and try to present our growers and industry personnel a pretty good program that day.”
Event Details
The event will highlight mostly industry information, including a program about the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, the cotton industry’s new sustainability program as well an update of the Boll Weevil Eradication program.
“We’re also going to have an update from our new Georgia Farm Bureau President Tom McCall. Mr. McCall, in his new role with Farm Bureau serves as ex-officio member of not only the Georgia Cotton Commission but many of Georgia’s agricultural commodities,” Sills said.
