USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Deputy Administrator for Field Operations, Peggy Browne has been in the Southeast this week making stops to talk with producers. Southeast Agnet’s Randall Weiseman caught up with her via phone during a stop in Florida, and she talked about signing up for various programs including the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program-Plus (WHIP+).

USDA reminds producers that Oct. 30 is the deadline to submit applications for WHIP+. It compensates producers for losses due to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, drought, excessive moisture, wildfires and other natural disasters that occurred in calendar years 2018 and 2019.

FSA launched a new tool on the farmers.gov WHIP+ webpage to help producers understand eligibility for the program. For more information or application assistance, visit that webpage or contact your local USDA Service Center.
