There are only three weeks left to the 2020 Florida Legislative Session, and according to Florida Cattlemen’s Association (FCA) Director of Governmental Affairs Sam Ard, this week was a busy one. He notes that discussions this week included a bill concerning water.

And Ard also has an update on the budget, which lawmakers will be working to wrap up before the session ends March 13.

When it comes to the proposals for next year’s budget, the House is looking at only $20 million for the Florida Forever program, while the Senate would provide $125 million. Funding for the program in the current year’s budget is $33 million. So finalizing the budget will be high priority as lawmakers prepare to negotiate a spending plan for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, which starts July 1.
