USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Georgia is planning to invest up to $300,000 in the Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program. This year’s state CIG will help fund innovative conservation projects in three focus areas: grazing lands, urban agriculture and soil health. But, completed grant proposals are due by this Friday, June 10, 2019.

In a release, State Conservationist Terrance O. Rudolph said, “CIG helps to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies in conjunction with agricultural production.”

NRCS uses CIG to work with partners to address some of the state’s most pressing natural resource concerns. Funds will be awarded through a statewide competitive grants process. CIG is authorized and funded under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, and projects can last up to three years.

Applications must be submitted electronically through grants.gov. In addition, a PDF of the complete application must be emailed to tansel.hudson@ga.usda.gov. Both submissions must be received by the submission due date of 5 p.m. EST June 10, 2019.
