FDACS Looks Toward More Funding

Randall Weiseman Florida, Legislative

RatatouilleThe Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is looking toward additional funding this legislative session for the Fresh from Florida program. The program suffered a decrease in funding last year from $13 million to $6 million. Now, they are looking toward $5 million more in general revenue funding to make up for the loss.

The Florida Farm Bureau held their legislative days this week, and Fresh from Florida funding was on their list of legislation to advocate for. To wrap up the legislation days, the Taste of Florida Reception was held in the Capitol courtyard, where Florida Farm Bureau President John Hoblick and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam addressed the crowd.

AgNet Media’s Abbey Taylor caught up with Putnam after his address to discuss Fresh from Florida funding.
