According to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), as the Department of Transportation presses ahead with implementation of electronic logging devices (ELD), Florida Congressman Ted Yoho is asking Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to provide livestock haulers with a longer-term waiver from the ELDs.
In his official letter, Yoho wrote “I would ask that the [Department of Transportation] issue an exemption for livestock haulers for a period of five years but no less than two years, which would allow stakeholders and policymakers to make further adjustments to these requirements.”
The new ELD rules were set to go into effect on December 18, 2017, but NCBA helped secure a 90-day waiver for livestock haulers. And NCBA wants to thank Congressman Yoho, a practicing large animal veterinarian and NCBA member, for advocating on behalf of cattlemen and women across the country.
