The average American eats about 250 eggs a year. Likely they are all chicken eggs. It is strange we don’t cook and serve turkey eggs. Have you ever eaten a turkey egg? They are just as edible as chicken eggs. But about the only people that cook them are people that raise turkeys.

How about this? During the laying cycle, a chicken will lay one egg a day. A turkey will lay, on average, about one egg per week.

One unofficial report estimated that people eat more duck eggs than turkey eggs. All right.

What about nutritional value?

The turkey eggs are just bigger. That is all. The shell is harder, but they are almost like the chicken egg.

If you are interested in buying some turkey eggs, be prepared to pay more. They run about twice as much. That sounds reasonable to me.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
