Fresh and organic vegetables at farmers marketAlabama fruit and vegetable farmers are being reminded Monday, October 31, is the deadline to take part in a survey from Auburn University (AU). As the farm-to-table movement gains traction and consumers search for locally produced food, AU is researching the fruit and vegetable industry’s impact on Alabama. So the 15-minute survey for Alabama fruit, vegetable and tree nut farmers will allow researchers to explore the size and economies of these industries.

The survey results expect to increase horticulture’s visibility in Alabama and enhance the industry’s ability to compete for federal, state and local resources. AU’s agricultural economics department is administering the survey, which again, is only open through October 31st. The data obtained will remain anonymous.
