New Blueberry Varieties Available to Growers

blue-suede-berries-ga-facesMany citrus growers are looking for alternative crops to replace their lost citrus acreage. One crop that’s making a big appearance in Florida is the blueberry. The University of Florida is developing new varieties of highbush blueberries that are better suited to Florida’s warm climate. James Olmsted, associate professor in the University of Florida’s Horticultural Sciences Department, works in blueberry breeding and spoke about some of the new varieties that are available to growers.
