The University of Florida hosted executives from Limagrain, a global seed company, in Gainesville this week for a big announcement. Limagrain is the world’s fourth largest seed company, and its HM.CLAUSE Vegetable Seed branch is number two in vegetable seeds. In addition to touring the UF agricultural research facilities throughout Florida, they formally announced a unique investment and support program for the “Challenge 2050 Project” at UF/IFAS. The “Challenge 2050 Project” is an innovative program at the University of Florida that brings students, industry professionals and policy makers together in an integrated way to address a global population projected to exceed 9.6 billion by the year 2050. Students involved in the project presented their ideas for solving these global issues to the HM.CLAUSE executives. Southeast AgNet’s founder and president, Gary Cooper, toured the state with the group and got an exclusive interview with director of the “Challenge 2050 Project,” Dr. Tony Andenoro.
