Efforts to Eradicate Invasive that is Harmful to Forest Landowners

infestation of old world climbing fern A growing problem that started in south Florida and is rapidly spreading northward is the invasive plant known as the old world climbing fern. Bryan Nelson with the Southwest Florida Water Management District says the vine significantly impacts the natural fire control in forest areas which is why the Florida Natural Resources Conservation Service and other state agencies are part of an eradication effort dubbed the Central Florida Lygodium Strategy.
