In these first two reports, Southeast AgNet’s Ernie Neff (below left) catches up with Southern Gardens VP Jim Snively (photo right) to Jim Snively, VP Grove Operations, Southern Gardens Citrusdiscuss the company’s news release about field trials beginning for citrus trees they hope will prove resistant to both citrus canker and HLB (citrus greening disease).
Snively and other Southern Gardens personnel were on hand most of the week at the International Ernie Neff, Editor of Citrus Industry Magazine is also a citrus reporter for Southeast AgNet Radio NetworkResearch Conference on Huanglongbing (HLB) that drew researchers from 26 countries to Orlando to collaborate specifically on that subject. Southern Gardens, a division of U S Sugar Corporation, has been in the forefront of HLB research since it was first discovered in south Florida and continues to invest heavily into its own research and development programs.
In this next report, Ernie Neff reports on aspects of the HLB conference that focused on the need of sharing information among researchers in order for global research into HLB to be most effective and timely.
