West Central FL Farmers, Large & Small, Invited to AGRItunity 09

Gary Cooper Florida, General

Planning is well under way for AGRItunity 2009, the annual conference and trade show designed to meet the needs of farmers large and small in the west central Florida area, scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 24, 2009. This year the popular event will be moving to a new venue at the Hernando County Fairground in Brooksville, Florida. In line with the theme “Harvest of Green”, the AGRItunity 2009 planning committee has designed educational sessions along with trade and equipment show exhibits of interest to agricultural producers of the region.

The educational program will start off with a general session focusing on a successful south Florida local food program. The livestock breakout session will focus on demonstrations of poultry production, controlling weeds, beef cattle breeding for Florida conditions and herd health management, while the crops session will cover subjects such as blueberries and blackberries, protected agriculture, organic production and direct marketing. Once again, a trade show featuring products and farm equipment for the small and large Florida farm will be a highlight of the program.

Registration for attendees is available on line at http://sumter.ifas.ufl.edu and over 4,000 direct mailings to farm families in the west central Florida region will be sent out soon. Anyone interested in further information or being placed on the contact list for registration materials, as well as companies or other groups interested in being a sponsor or exhibitor please contact:
