USDA Sets New Standards for Reducing Foodborne Pathogens in Chickens and Turkeys
WASHINGTON, March 16, 2011 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) today announced implementation of revised and new performance standards aimed at reducing the prevalence of Salmonella and Campylobacter in young chickens and turkeys. NPPC Scores CAFO Suit Victory Over EPA
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 15, 2011 – In a unanimous decision issued today, a federal court ruled that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency cannot require livestock operations to obtain Clean Water Act (CWA) permits unless they are discharging manure into a waterway of the United States. The decision is a major victory for pork producers, said the National Pork Producers Council.
