The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is providing dollars which will allow work to be done in Alabama with floodplain easements. John Curtis, Resource Conservationist with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in Alabama, said the work will take place in North Alabama. FL CSP No Longer Just for Watersheds
Signup for the new Conservation Stewardship Program started August 10th as Ken Morgan, with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in Florida, said the updated program is no longer just for watersheds. AL AWEP Sign Up
Alabama Natural Resources Conservation Service has been allotted 1.58 million in financial assistance for the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program. Sign up starts Monday August 17 and is due by August 24, 2009 for more information regarding the program log on to the AL NRCS website.
NRCS Role in Farm to Fuel Issue
At the recent Farm to Fuel Summit, Acting State Conservationist for Florida Natural Resources Conservation Service, Michele Laur, said that she believes that NRCS can play a significant role in the Farm to Fuel issue.
AL NRCS Wildlife School

CSP Open to All Producers
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) began accepting applications for continuous sign-up for the new Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) on August 10. The first signup period will end on September 30.
