Since the 2018 Farm Bill was enacted, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has been working to implement programs that offers strong support for conservation efforts of America’s farmers and ranchers.

One of those is the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), which helps producers maintain and improve their existing conservation systems and adopt additional conservation activities to address priority resources concerns. Participants earn CSP payments for conservation performance, the higher the performance, the higher the payment.

And NRCS encourages producers to learn more about the new CSP Grasslands Conservation Initiative. It will assist producers in protecting grazing land uses; conserving and improving soil, water and wildlife resources; and achieving related conservation values by conserving eligible land through grassland conservation contracts. And USDA has extended current signup deadline to November 8, 2019, for eligible agriculture producers to enroll. This program is available to producers with base acreage that has been in grass or grasslands over a nine-year period, rather than planted with commodity crops.
