U.S. Department of Agriculture Chief Meteorologist Mark Brusberg has the latest crop report information that shows cotton development and harvest are ahead of schedule in most places.

Brusberg also provides the latest report on peanut harvest progress.  

In Alabama, 97 percent of the cotton bolls were open, which compares to 93 percent last year at this time. Forty-eight percent of the cotton crop has been harvested, which compares to 39 percent this time last year. Ninety percent of the peanuts had been dug, which compares to 75 percent this time last year. Eighty-one percent have already been harvested, which compares to only 61 percent last year.

In Florida, 82 percent of the cotton bolls were open, which compares to 95 percent last year at this time. Twenty-eight percent of the crop has been harvested, compared to only 9 percent last year. Eighty-nine percent of the peanuts had been dug, which compares to 88 percent this time last year. Eighty percent have been harvested, which compares to 75 percent this time last year.

In Georgia, 96 percent of the cotton bolls were open, which compares to 95 percent last year at this time. Forty-eight percent of the crop has been harvested, compared to 28 percent last year. Eighty-five percent of the peanuts have been dug, which compares to 77 percent this time last year. Seventy-two percent have been harvested, which compares to 61 percent this time last year.
