Cattle on Feed Up Two Percent

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its May Cattle on Feed Report, showing the numbers of cattle and calves on feed for the U.S. slaughter market was 11.8 million head on May 1, two percent above May 1, 2018. This is the highest May 1 inventory since the series began in 1996. USDA livestock analyst Shayle Shagam looks at the placement and marketing numbers.
