gardeningToday’s lifestyle has everyone constantly on the go. You still love gardening, but just don’t seem to have the time to devote to it. Cathy Isom has a solution for you. In today’s program, Cathy tells you about the best crops to grow for the time-strapped gardener. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.

Gardening Simplified, Self-Seeding Crops

Gardening can be fun, therapeutic and also a lot of work. But you can take a lot of the work out of gardening by planting self-seeding crops. These are annual plants that grow to maturity, form seeds, drop them, and new plants readily germinate. Self-seeding gardens can be a real treat for a time-strapped gardener.

If this is something you may want to consider, then here are some of the crops that are recommended.

  • Basil and garlic. Great crops that will keep replanting themselves and are also good at attracting pollinators and repelling pests.
  • Arugula, easy to grow and makes a great ground cover.
  • Mustard is a double-impact crop. It will provide both seeds and greens.
  • You should also consider planting Nasturtium, Sunflowers, Amaranth, Radish, potatoes, tomatoes, and pumpkins.

After all, you will only have to plant these once to enjoy them year after year.
