Tips for Starting a Flower Garden

Spring is coming… and that means blooming colors on trees and flowers in the garden soon. If you aren’t ready to tear up a patch of lawn to start a new garden, or if space is limited, why not start with a potted garden.

Potted gardens will require more watering, but require less care overall. Select plants that will grow well in your spot. Some plants grow well in the shade and others prefer the sun. Find out more about which plants and flowers grow best in your area by looking online at USDA.gov and searching Hardiness Zones.

Local greenhouses stock plants that grow well in your area. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions and shop there frequently. It may also be in your favor to connect with other gardeners in your area. Especially those who prefer perennial gardens, have to thin their flower beds every couple of years. They can also offer great tips. They may even share extra bulbs and seeds with those who are new to gardening.
