Agri View: Water Wars and the Supreme Court

Dan General

water warsEverett Griner talks about the Supreme Court involvement in the Water Wars in today’s Agri View.

Water Wars and the Supreme Court

Well, you know the longest water fight between Georgia and Florida is still in the courts. But this not the only water fight making the news.

Texas and New Mexico are fighting over the water over the Rio Grande. They have been for a long time. A lot of water warsfolks don’t know this, but, the Rio Grande is one of the longest rivers in the United States. And, it supplies water to more than just Texas and New Mexico.

But, the dispute over distribution was scheduled to be heard by the United States Supreme Court this month. Well, here is why this is important. The findings of the supreme Court could very well affect every river in every state. Most of the dispute is between farmers.

So, just like the Georgia-Florida dispute. Farmers everywhere are watching, and waiting. The outcome of this case could affect every one of them.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
