Exhibitors and special guests gather at a reception to kick-off the Sommet.

It’s opening day for the Sommet de l’Élevage in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The Sommet’s primary goal is for people to exchange goods and make international business connections. Nearly 28 European countries are involved in the event, and dozens of other foreign countries are represented among the thousands of people attending the Sommet.

AgNet Media Founder and President Gary Cooper is in France covering the Sommet. He says it is hard to explain to American listeners or readers just how invisible America is at the Sommet. However, he knows in the coming years that will change. Last year, Cooper was the first American agricultural reporter to attend the Sommet. Now, he is working to raise awareness of the Sommet in the United States to encourage more Americans to attend.

For the first time ever, Americans are exhibiting at the Sommet. The U.S. Livestock Exporters Association, is the first American association to to attend or exhibit at the Sommet. Cooper believes this trend will only continue.

Cooper will be in France covering the Sommet for the remainder of the week. Stay tuned for more reports from Cooper as he experiences the Sommet.
