Do you know an up-and-coming leader who wants to be more involved in the agriculture industry? He or she may be eligible for the Florida Fruit & Vegetable’s Emerging Leader Development Program.
Launched in 2011, the program identifies and develops leaders to be strong advocates for Florida agriculture. The programming provides a wealth of information of the many issues facing the industry and the tools to communicate about agriculture. Ultimately, graduates of the program can get involved to improve the sustainability of specialty crop agriculture and to strengthen grassroots engagement in FFVA and other industry organizations.
Applications are being accepted for individuals ages 25 to 45 from within FFVA members’ organizations or families. Applicants must be working in or pursuing a career in Florida’s specialty crop industry. A class of 10 to 12 members will be selected for the one-year program.
The program includes meetings with legislators and state officials in Tallahassee, seminars provided by FFVA staff members and other experts on current issues, tours of venues to study environmental issues and water management, and visits to specialty crop production areas.
