Testing Continues Across Southeast for Avian Influenza

AVIAN INFLUENZAIt’s been a couple of weeks since we last heard about any new cases of avian influenza, as the last was a confirmation at a commercial poultry breeding operation in Chattooga County in Georgia. But overall, there have been cases in four southeastern states with positive cases, which also include Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. USDA Chief Veterinarian Dr. Jack Shere says testing continues in more than one way.

Dr. Shere said all poultry producers across the Southeast are being reminded of the important steps they can take to protect their flocks, as the stronger a producer’s biosecurity, the less likely their flock will become infected.
