Every Thursday, the Lauderdale County Junior Cattlemen’s Association is busy gathering and preparing full beef meals and hand delivering them to elderly, sick/shut in’s and widows/widowers in that county. Their focus has been on, but not limited to, retired farmers, cattlemen and their families. Brian Smith, with the Lauderdale County Cattlemen’s Association, says this is a beef promotion and they call them “ZIP Meals”, because beef is of course full of Zinc, Iron, and Protein.

Brian said this is a great way to promote beef, serve the community, and give back to and recognize their retired cattlemen, and the recipients love it and the kids do too. As a matter of fact, Randall Weiseman also talked with a few members of the Lauderdale County Junior Cattlemen, the first being Jonah Danley.

Smith said along with the stories, the old photos are coming out and the kids are getting to know the older generation in their community. He said there has been a big outpouring of support in money, time, and offers to help from the community. And as he said, this all sheds a positive light on the beef industry!
