Locomotive Makes Triumphant Return to U.S. Sugar

fec148U.S. Sugar is welcoming home the return of locomotive Engine No. 148, a steam locomotive once used to haul sugarcane from the fields to the mill in the 1950s.

U.S. Sugar recently bought back the engine from a private owner and plans to restore it to its original glory. Engine No. 148 was shipped by rail from Colorado and is arriving in Clewiston, Florida, for a celebration with U.S. Sugar officials and community members.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, U.S. Sugar officials and employees, members of the Clewiston Future Farmers of America and local schoolchildren will help welcome the arrival of the steam engine in Clewiston.

The homecoming will be located at 530 Old Farm Place in Clewiston.
