Top Agriculture groups are putting out a ‘call to arms’ after comments last week by congressional leaders suggesting it’s unlikely the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal will be considered during the lame duck session this year. Both Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are downplaying the chances for a TPP vote this year. McConnell blames a lack of votes during a presidential election year while Ryan says the deal needs “fixing”.
