Cotton Crop Improves, Peanuts Hold Steady

In Alabama, 97% of the cotton crop had been planted as of this past Sunday. That compares to 97% at the same time last year while 97% is the 5-year average. In Georgia, 97% of the cotton crop had been planted as of this past Sunday. That compares to 99% at the same time last year while 98% is the 5-year average. In Florida, planting has wrapped up for the corn, cotton, peanut, and soybean crops in the Panhandle counties. There are still some cucumbers and squash being harvested in Bradford County. Potato and strawberry harvests are nearly complete. Crops coming to market this week include avocado, bitter melon, okra, and other tropical fruits. Reports from the central and southern counties indicate that the vegetable crops are in good condition.
