Competitive Event Helps Train Future Ag Leaders

FFBFGainesville, Fla. – Young farmers and ranchers who enjoy a good exchange of ideas and perspectives are encouraged to participate in the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s 2015 Discussion Meet contest during the Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership Conference, July 17-19, at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Resort.

The Discussion Meet simulates a committee meeting. Topics are pre-determined, and contestants are evaluated on their ability to present ideas in civil discourse, offer constructive criticism, cooperate and communicate while analyzing agricultural problems and developing solutions.

The deadline for participants to apply is June 12. The first two rounds of the competition will be held in Naples and the final four competitors will compete at the Florida Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Ponte Vedra Beach on Oct. 28.

Contestants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes, an ATV four-wheeler and an expense-paid trip to the 2016 American Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Orlando where they will represent Florida in the national competition.
