The Florida Citrus Commission soon will consider a plan for the future of the Florida Department of Citrus’ Scientific Research Division headquartered at Lake Alfred. The plan was proposed by a Scientific Research Advisory Committee chaired by Citrus Commissioner V.C. Hollingsworth. Commenting on the proposed direction for the division are Hollingsworth and Department of Citrus officials Doug Ackerman and Shannon Shepp. Why a plan was needed is addressed, along with the division’s objective, staffing and budget.
