Bird Flu Confirmed in First Commercial Chicken Flock

broilier-chickensUp to this week, the outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in commercial poultry flocks were limited to turkeys, but as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Gary Crawford reports, that’s no longer the case.

Dr. John Clifford, the USDA’s chief veterinarian, says so far there have been no reported human health problems from the avian flu viruses now showing up in U.S. poultry flocks.
