fdacs-fff-flatbreadTALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This month, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has partnered with retailer Bi-Lo to promote “Fresh From Florida” to residents of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Charleston, SC.

“Florida residents know there is nothing better than buying ‘Fresh From Florida,’ and we want to expand that experience to other Southern states,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam. “We are highlighting fresh produce and easy-to-use recipes to appeal to individuals and families in Tennessee and South Carolina.”

“Fresh From Florida” television commercials that feature Florida produce in easy-to-make recipes are airing throughout April. The television spots encourage viewers to visit their local Bi-Lo stores to purchase the Florida items featured in the recipes, including Florida tomatoes, bell peppers, sweet corn and watermelon. Bi-Lo shoppers will also have a chance to taste one of the recipes through in-store sampling events. The Florida Tomato and Sweet Bell Pepper Flatbread recipe will be sampled at 40 Bi-Lo stores in both markets this month.

The current Bi-Lo stores partnership adds 750 Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores to the “Fresh From Florida” retail promotional program. Currently, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services partners with 8,000 stores in 30 supermarket chains throughout the United States.
