USDA Working on a Fix for a Problem Affecting Cotton Growers

nccRonnie Lee, a Bronwood, Georgia cotton producer presented testimony this week during the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee’s hearing to review implementation of The Agricultural Act of 2014. He also was testifying on behalf of the Southern Peanut Farmers Federation. As part of his testimony, Lee stressed that one of the most challenging implementation issues has been the imposition of the payment limit on the marketing loan. And the issue of unified payment limits is presenting a problem for cotton producers because they cannot currently assess timely information on their marketing loan gains.
