Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (through a federal pesticide grant provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 4), are conducting two agricultural pesticide collection days, one to be held at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center in Belle Mina on Wednesday, August 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the other to be held at the Chilton Research and Extension Center in Clanton on Thursday, August 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cooperating agencies include the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station.
The collection and disposal of pesticide waste brought by farmers to the collection site are free of charge, and participating farmers will remain anonymous. The program will provide an opportunity for farmers to safely, economically, and legally remove and dispose of any pesticide wastes stored on their farms. All farmers located in North & Central Alabama are eligible to participate.
