USDA released their monthly Cattle on Feed report this afternoon and the on-feed number as of August 1, was 10 million head, down 6 percent from 2012. Placements in feedlots during July were 1.72 million, 10 percent below 2012, while marketing’s of fed cattle during July totaled 2 million head, 5 percent above last year. And Gary Crawford reports that some industry analysts are expressing surprise at the numbers in this new report.
