FL State Fairgrounds to be Site of Presidential Tea Party Debate

TAMPA – The Florida State Fair Authority announced today that the State Fairgrounds has been selected as the host site for the September 12, 2011 Republican Presidential Debate hosted by CNN and the Tea Party Express.

“We are pleased to be selected as the site of this debate as it fits with our mission of supporting education and community service,” said Chuck Pesano, Executive Director for the Florida State Fair Authority. “It’s important that we, as citizens, have the opportunity to learn about those running for public office,” he added.

The Tea Party Express will launch its fifth cross country bus tour that starts in Napa Valley, California on August 27th, will make its way to Tampa, Florida ahead of the Tea Party Presidential Debate. According to a press release by The Tea Party Express, the Debate will feature over 100 Tea Party groups from all over the country. CNN plans to air several of their weekend shows live from the State Fairgrounds prior to the September 12th event.

Hundreds of members from the news media are expected to be on hand to cover this event. “This debate will focus the eyes of the nation on the Tampa Bay Area and all that we have to offer,” Pesano said.
