Deer Composters Make Fertilizer

Randall Weiseman Florida, USDA-NRCS

USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in Florida is helping to promote a project that allows deer hunters to use the leftovers from their hunting successes to make fertilizer.

They are encouraging hunting camps, landowners and even meat processors to install deer composters, like the one in the picture. More information can be obtained about the composters anywhere in the state by contacting local soil and water conservation districts.
